Javier Chapa: Congratulations on "Harvest of Redemption"

http://www.shortfilmtexas.com/2008/rio-grande-valley-film-harvest-of-redemption-gets-blockbuster-release

The film “Harvest of Redemption” which was shot in the Rio Grande Valley will be released in Blockbusters nationwide on January 22nd, 2008.
The film won the “Best Foreign Feature” award at the 2007 International Family Film Festival in Hollywood and stars Rio Grande Valley natives Joey Partida (McAllen) J.R. Villarreal (Mission) and Laura Perez (Mission), as well as features many other valleyites. Harvest utilized a majority of their cast and crew from the Rio Grande Valley and credits the Rio Grande City Historic Preservation Commission for providing most of the film’s authentic 1920’s locations as well as their cast and crew’s lodging and meals. Pickup shots were also shot in several historical areas of Brownsville with the help of the Brownsville Border Film Commission.
“It is the generous help and support of organizations and cities like Rio Grande City and Brownsville that make shooting a film like this possible,” say the producers of “Harvest.”

HARVEST OF REDEMPTION, (inspired by a true story) features a youngman’s struggle as he grows up and attempts to overcome the intenseresentment incurred after witnessing the brutal murder of his father as young child. His flawed attempt to resolve his pain triggers fatal repercussions, when he resorts to revenge rather than forgiveness.
Although it takes Oscar nearly a lifetime, he eventually learns the costly and valuable lesson that forgiveness is often the most healing and powerful form of retribution. Oscar’s life-long journey is threaded with the very real and vivid colors of life including love, hate, faith, revenge, and ultimately…redemption.
